Frequently Asked Questions
I'VE NEVER DONE REFORMER PILATES BEFORE. CAN I COME?
Absolutely.
You don't need any previous Pilates or Reformer experience. In fact, the beauty of a private 1-to-1 session is that there's no class to keep up with.
We'll introduce you to the Reformer, take you through the foundations and get you moving at your own pace.
New to Reformer? Start with our introductory session.
DO I NEED TO BE FIT OR FLEXIBLE?
Not at all.
You don't need to be able to touch your toes, have a strong core or know your way around a Reformer before you arrive.
We'll meet you where you are and build from there.
ARE THE SESSIONS REALLY 1-TO-1?
Yes.
There's one Reformer and one client in the studio at a time, so your session is completely private.
One Reformer. One client. One-to-one.
WILL IT BE CHALLENGING?
It can be!
Georgie loves a challenging, dynamic Reformer flow and you'll always be encouraged to see what you're capable of.
At the same time, you're encouraged to listen to your body. Take the challenge when it feels right, drop back when you need to and make the session your own.
Your body. Your pace. Your challenge.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Wear comfortable activewear that allows you to move freely.
Leggings, shorts, T-shirts, fitted tops and usual gym clothing all work well.
Most importantly, wear something you feel comfortable moving in.
DO I NEED GRIP SOCKS?
Yes. Grip socks are required for all Reformer sessions.
Please bring your own pair with you to your session.
Forgot yours? Grip socks are also available to purchase at the studio.
HOW DO I BOOK?
First, choose and purchase your session or session pack through our website.
Once purchased, contact Georgie via WhatsApp or email with a couple of days/times that work for you and we'll arrange your session.
For the full process, visit our How to Book page.
WHERE IS THE MOVEMENT LAB?
The Movement Lab is a private Reformer studio in Blackwell, near Barnt Green.
As we're a private studio, the full address and arrival information will be provided once you've purchased your session.
IS THERE PARKING?
Parking is available onsite.
WHAT HAPPENS BEFORE MY FIRST SESSION?
Before your first visit, you'll need to complete a short PAR-Q and waiver.
You'll receive the details with your purchase confirmation.
This helps us make sure we have the information we need before getting you onto the Reformer.
HOW LONG ARE THE SESSIONS?
Standard private Reformer sessions are 50 minutes.
Our introductory session for those new to Reformer is 60 minutes, giving us a little extra time to introduce you to the equipment and get you comfortable before we get moving.
WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL OR MOVE MY SESSION?
We understand that plans change.
Please give at least 48 hours notice if you need to cancel or rearrange your session.
Sessions cancelled or rearranged with less than 48 hours notice will be charged in full or deducted from your session pack.
HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO USE MY SESSION PACK?
4 Session Pack: valid for 6 weeks from purchase.
6 Session Pack: valid for 8 weeks from purchase.
CAN I PURCHASE A SESSION AS A GIFT?
Absolutely. A private Reformer session makes a great gift.
Get in touch and we'll help you arrange it.
CAN I COME IF I'M PREGNANT?
At the moment, we're not offering Reformer sessions during pregnancy.
Every pregnancy and Pilates journey is different, and we want to make sure you're exercising with someone who has the appropriate specialist training to support you during this time.
We'd love to welcome you to The Movement Lab at another stage of your journey.
WHAT IF I HAVE AN INJURY OR MEDICAL CONDITION?
We want you to feel confident and comfortable when you come to The Movement Lab.
Our sessions are fitness-focused Reformer Pilates rather than physiotherapy or rehabilitation, so unfortunately we're not able to work with serious or acute injuries, or conditions that require specialist rehabilitation or significant exercise modifications.
If you have an injury, medical condition or you're simply not sure whether Reformer is right for you, have a chat with your healthcare professional first and get the all-clear before booking.
And if you're unsure about anything, you're always welcome to message Georgie before purchasing a session. We'd much rather have a conversation first and make sure The Movement Lab is the right fit for you.
WHAT DO I NEED TO DO BEFORE MY FIRST SESSION?
There's just a little bit of housekeeping before we get you moving!
Before your first session, we'll ask you to complete a short PAR-Q and waiver. This gives you the opportunity to let us know about anything relevant to your health or movement before you arrive.
If anything comes up that means we need a little more information, we may ask you to get medical clearance before your session.
Once that's done, you're good to go.
CAN I WEAR JEWELLERY?
We ask that jewellery is removed before getting onto the Reformer - both to keep you safe and to look after the equipment.
That includes watches, bracelets, necklaces and anything else that could catch or knock against the Reformer.
If you can, it's easiest to leave valuables at home.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
Not much!
Come in comfortable activewear that you can move freely in and bring a pair of grip socks, as these are required on the Reformer.
You're welcome to bring a bottle of water too.
And one last thing - if anything has changed with your health, an injury or simply how you're feeling that day, just let Georgie know before you start.
Then you're ready to move.
